Seymour Duncan Black Winter bridge and neck humbuckers YouTube demo

First of all, Happy New Year all! Hoping everyone had a great 2013 and are looking forward to a killer 2014. My 2013 was pretty crappy, but I’m hoping this year is going to be awesome.

Anyway, over the Christmas break I had a few moments over a couple of days to shoot a demo of the Seymour Duncan Black Winter humbuckers. I wanted to showcase the Black Winter pickups in an E standard setting, as most other video demos out there are of it on guitars tuned low. I also wanted to show what the pickup sounds like just raw without any post mixing and editing. Too many videos are clean and processed, which doesn’t really give a real impression of what a guitar, pickup, amp, etc sounds like when you’re playing at home.

The Black Winters are installed in a customised Ibanez RG 450 LTD with basswood body, maple neck/rosewood fretboard, and Edge Pro bridge with a Killer Guitar Components brass block.

The bridge rhythm and lead demos are played through a Blackstar HT-5 head on the dirty channel, and the neck rhythm demo is on the clean channel with an MXR Micro Chorus in front of the amp and a TC Electronic Flashback X 4 delay set to analogue mode in the loop. The neck bluesy demo is back to the dirty channel on the HT-5.

There is much more that the Black Winters are capable of with split and parallel wiring, but I didn’t have time to really show these. I’ll have the Black Winters reviewed on the Seymour Duncan blog soon, so keep an eye out for that.
