What a new gear day(s)!
Okay, so this is technically three new gear days rolled into one. It was my birthday late last month, and I was spoiled pretty rotten. I received a few really nice guitar related things.
First up, was the Squier Deluxe Stratocaster, from my amazing girlfriend. It’s used, and needs a bit of work, but these guitars are known for being a bit of an ultimate bang for buck strat. I’ve got a lot of clean up work to do on it, sorting out the neck, replacing the clunky stock tuners with some Graphtech Ratios that I have from an earlier review, cleaning up or replacing the hardware that is corroded, and switching that horrible aftermarket tortoise shell pickguard with a parchment one that I have on order.
I have a set of Seymour Duncan Hendrix signature strat single coils ready to go in with the new pickguard as well. I can’t wait to give them a proper play. I’ve had them sitting in my cupboard for some time, waiting for a suitable guitar to install them in.
My girlfriend also picked out a beautiful Dunlop Authentic Hendrix guitar strap to go with the Strat. It looks great, and feels amazing, and is a perfect fit for this guitar.
Lastly, my family all pitched in and got me an MXR Dookie Drive. Greenday and Dookie were my gateway to punk rock, and the tones on this album also sound amazing. I was very excited when Jim Dunlop announced the release of the Dookie Drive at 2019 Winter NAMM, and once the sound clips started coming out later in the year I knew I had to get my hands on one.
Be on the lookout for reviews, and the restoration of the Strat in the coming weeks.
